Niikai (Kai) Wells

I'm Kai, a New York–based multidisciplinary visual artist specializing in digital still photography. At the heart of my work is storytelling—creating photographs that go beyond documenting a moment to reveal the emotion, connection, and humanity within it.

My goal is to make images that invite thought, evoke feeling, and encourage reflection. Photographs have the power to outlive the moment they were made, becoming lasting reminders of who we were, what we felt, and the stories that shaped us. I believe the strongest images don't simply preserve time—they transcend it.

My work focuses on environmental portraiture, documentary photography, events, and intimate weddings and elopements. Regardless of the setting, my approach remains the same: to observe with intention, work with authenticity, and create imagery that feels honest, timeless, and deeply personal.

I work best with people who value quality over quantity—those who understand that meaningful photographs aren't rushed. Whether we're documenting a wedding, a portrait session, or a fleeting moment in everyday life, I believe every story deserves the time and space to unfold naturally. Even a single moment has the potential to become eternal when it's seen, felt, and captured with purpose.
